DSI is the world’s most trusted name in diamond grading and gem identification. With objectivity and expertise as its hallmarks, DSI ensures the integrity and accuracy of every report it issues. DSI tests every material submitted to determine whether it is natural or not, and discloses any treatments discovered during our examination.
Diamonds are among nature’s most precious and beautiful creations. Diamond forms under high temperature and pressure conditions that exist only about 100 miles beneath the earth’s surface. Diamond’s carbon atoms are bonded in essentially the same way in all directions. Another mineral, graphite, also contains only carbon, but its formation process and crystal structure are very different. Graphite is so soft that you can write with it, while diamond is so hard that you can only scratch it with another diamond.
Our laboratory has the knowledge and instruments needed to thoroughly analyse your jewellery.
At DSI we set a high value on informing our consumers about the diamonds they buy.
When purchasing an DSI graded diamond, you can rest assured the characteristics described in its accompanying grading report have been thoroughly checked by our expert gemmologists.
The DSI Diamond Grading Report includes an assessment of the 4Cs – Color, Clarity, Cut, and Carat Weight – along with a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics and a graphic representation of the diamond’s proportions. For standard round brilliant cut diamonds falling in the D-to-Z color range, the report also includes a DSI Cut grade.
Our laboratory has the knowledge and instruments needed to thoroughly analyse your jewellery. An DSI jewellery Report is an official document in which a jewellery item is authenticated for different purposes, such as insurance, inheritance or purchase. It can also be used to determine the market value of a jewel. These reports provide a general description of the jewel, the diamonds it contains and the precious metals of which it is made.
